Abstract
A method for diagnostics of breakdown-strength recovery dynamics for d ischarge gaps and an electronic device implementing this technique are described. The breakdown-strength measurement error caused by breakdo wn current flow through electric probes or contacts of the commutator under study is reduced to a minimum by the fast removal of voltage fro m the probes if the breakdown current exceeds a certain preset value o f similar to 1 mA.
