Abstract
The synthesis of a 93-residue chemokine, lymphotactin, containing eight sit es of O-linked glycosylation, was achieved using the technique of native ch emical ligation, A single GalNAc residue was incorporated at each glycosyla tion site using standard Fmoc-chemistry to achieve the first total synthesi s of a mucin-type glycoprotein. Using this approach quantities of homogeneo us material were obtained for structural and functional analysis.
