Abstract
2,3-Dioxanaphthalene derivatives of [3n]crown-n macrocycles were synthesise d from 2,3-dihydroxynaphthalene and polyglycoldihalides and studied for the ir cationic recognition properties using steady state fluorescence spectros copy. The association constants for the interaction of 2,3-naphthol[12]crow n-4, 2,3-naphtho[15]crown-5 and 2,3-naphtho[18]crown-6 with LiClO4, NaClO4, NaSCN, and KSCN were measured in acetonitrile. Excellent correlation of sp ectroscopic, cationic charge-radii and macrocycle backbone size data was fo und. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
