Abstract
Affective symptomatology has repeatedly been suggested to confer susceptibi lity to tardive dyskinesia (TD). In our sample of 174 schizophrenic patient s a history of depressive symptoms was not associated with the occurrence o f TD, whereas manic symptomatology was significantly associated with the ab sence of TD. Thus, our data suggest that affective symptomatology cannot un ambiguously be considered to predispose to TD. (C) 2001 Editions scientifiq ues et medicales Elsevier SAS.
