The yarn and fabric strengths of wool clothings were determined with the ai
m of assessing their functional dependence. Other structural parameters of
investigated fabrics, such as density and yarn diameter, served for the cal
culation of the characteristic surface area. On the basis of the magnitude
of contact, interlacing, free and porous surfaces in a weave repeat unit of
the fabric, the real value of the weave binding coefficient was calculated
. The measured values of yarn strength, fabric density and strength enabled
calculation of the yarn strength coefficient. Functional dependence of the
yarn strength coefficient and real weave binding coefficient, as well as t
he formula for calculation of fabric strength, are used to establish a math
ematical model for the investigated fabric strength as a Junction of their
structural elements.
