Helium solubility has been measured from approximate to 200 to 1500 degrees
C in several commercial borosilicate glasses and melts. The solubility of h
elium passes through a minimum in the glass transformation range in every c
ase, i.e. the solubility decreases with increasing temperature for the glas
ses and then increases with increasing temperature for the melts. The solub
ility of helium in these materials also decreases with decreasing total gla
ssformer content.
