Cd. Riley et al., Design of impulse magnetizing fixtures for the radial homopolar magnetization of isotropic NdFeB ring magnets, IEEE MAGNET, 36(5), 2000, pp. 3846-3857
This paper is concerned with the design of homopolar impulse-magnetization
fixtures for isotropic NdFeB ring magnets, It discusses the merits of vario
us fixture topologies and describes a design methodology that employs both
analytical and finite-element techniques. It illustrates the utility of the
design methodology by presenting a case study of the homopolar magnetizati
on of annular isotropic NdFeB ring magnets for use in a tubular, linear per
manent-magnet actuator. It examines the influence of the aspect ratio of th
e magnets on the actuator air gap flux density profile, and it compares pre
dictions and measurements for different fixture designs.
