The effects of biaxial stress on the magnetic properties of pure iron discs
are reported. Isostress changes in the coercivity are well described by an
effective stress sigma (EFF) = sigma (x) - sigma (y). Irreversible, stress
-induced magnetization changes are presented in the form of contours in the
(sigma (x), sigma (y)) plane. These can be usefully described by a nine-co
efficient polynomial in sigma (x) and sigma (y).
