The effect of wheel speed and annealing including rapid thermal annealing w
ere examined on the magnetic and structural properties of Nd15Fe78.5C5.5 B
ribbons, Optimal coercivities in the range of 10-14 kOe have been obtained
for different wheel speeds. However, the magnetic hysteresis loops of the c
onventionally heat-treated ribbons often show a step in the demagnetization
curve, which was found to he correlated with the presence of large regions
with bcc Fe structure. These regions ran be shrunk significantly by using
the method of the rapid annealing resulting in the elimination of the step.
