The magnetization of the RNi4Mn compounds (R = Gd-Tm and Y) was studied up
to 55 kOe at 2K, and up to 400K at 30 kOe. A substantial increase of T-C wi
th respect to nonsubstituted RNi5, series was found. The nonlinear variatio
n of T-C vs. R and the change of the high filed magnetization values is att
ributed to the Mn substitution. Field induced magnetic phase transitions we
re observed at 2K for R = Er and Tm, These transitions are suggested to occ
ur due to the magnetic anisotropy in the rare earth sublattice.
