Abstract
The Zr-3(Rh(1-y)Pdy)(4) system in the Pu3Pd4 structure, reported on previou sly, is further investigated here, it exhibits an incommensurate density wa ve for 0.04 less than or equal to y less than or equal to 0.06, accompanied by strongly varying paramagnetism, It displays weak ferromagnetism at one composition and weak superconductivity at an other, Changes in cooperative behavior with such small changes in composition are unique for a metallic s ystem, The present results indicate that there is a charge density wave of constant wave vector direction and varying lattice displacements in this co mposition range, with microcracks developing for y = 0.04.
