Theoretical analysis of pressure losses in cyclone separators under the con
sideration of geometrical and flow parameters including inlet geometry, sur
face roughness, velocity and particles concentration, has been performed an
d a new equation has been developed. The results obtained in this study are
compared with experimental values for different type of cyclones. It was f
ound that the proposed equation could be used to predict the pressure losse
s easily and it is worthy especially industrial applications. (C) 2001 Else
