Abstract
The taxonomic status of the nominal species Telmatochromis temporalis, T. l estradei. T. burgeoni and Julidochromis macrolepis has been reviewed. The s ynonymy of T. lestradei with T. temporalis is confirmed. A comparison of Te lmatochromis burgeoni with Telmatochromis temporalis revealed no significan t differences either. Hence T. burgeoni is considered synonymous with T. te mporalis. Examination of the type of Julidochromis macrolepis showed it to be conspecific with Telmatochromis dhonti and not with T. temporalis, as ha d been suggested.
