Abstract
Brucellosis is a common zoonosis in many parts of the world. Human brucello sis is a multisystemic disease with a wide range of clinical symptoms. Bill iary involvement in the Form of acute cholecystitis is a very rare manifest ation of brucellosis. Here we report the case of a 34-year-old male with ac ute cholecystitis caused by Brucella melitensis and review seven other case s. We conclude that brucella may have a focal effect on the gallbladder, in the form of acute chelocystitis. (C) 2001 The British Infection Society.
