A Raman spectroscopic study was performed to investigate Ba1-xSrxTiO3 ceram
ics prepared using a solid-state reaction technique. A single-phase perovsk
ite structure of the ceramics was verified and no mechanical stresses or gr
ain size effects were identified within the sensitivity of the Raman micro-
probe. The tetragonal to cubic transition temperature that was found to dec
rease linearly from 137 to 7 degreesC with increasing Sr content from x = 0
.00 to x = 0.35 corroborated the dielectric results on single crystals. Cop
