Abstract
Relationships between the big five personality variables, hours of paid wor k per week, number of extracurricular activities, gender, and the week of t he semester students in a subject pool chose to participate in experiments were examined. Results indicate that individuals who chose to participate l ater in the semester tended to be less conscientious and possibly more open to experience than those individuals who chose to participate earlier in t he semester. Additionally, the results indicate that women and individuals who worked fewer hours per week tended to participate earier in an academic term than men and individuals who worked more hours per week.
