Abstract
A novel linearization method is proposed to increase the dynamic range of a n electro-absorption modulator in suboctave bandwidth operation by exploiti ng the fact that the phase of third-order intermodulation distortion varies with the dc bias voltage. A reduction of 14 dB in IMD3 and a subsequent in crease of the linear dynamic range were experimentally obtained. (C) 2001 J ohn Wiley & Sons, Inc.
