Abstract
A new principle of antenna-combining amorphous silicon solar cells and prin ted patches is presented. The antenna is designed, taking into account the solar cells that provide power to an MMIC amplifier. A 2 x 4 antenna array is presented, working at a frequency of 3.76 GHz with a bandwidth of 16% an d a gain of 13 dBi (passive) and up to 30 dBi (active). The a(-)Si:H solar cells supply 5 V and 100 mW at AM1.5. (C) 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
