Abstract
The group I mGluR agonist (S)- 3,5-dihydroxyphenylglycine (3,5-DHPG) and th e mGluR5 agonist 2-chloro-5-hydroxyphenylglycine both induced a membrane de polarisation of striatal cholinergic interneurons. The response to 3,5-DHPG was blocked only by the coadministration of mGluR1 and mGluR5 antagonists, suggesting that both mGluRs are involved in this excitatory effect in stri atal cholinergic interneurons.
