Abstract
A cytogenetic investigation was carried out on specimens of Liza ramad a, a mugilid species common in the Mediterranean sea. The analysis of chromosomes was performed through Ag-staining, C-banding, chromomycin A(3) and DAPI staining, and fluorescent in situ hybridization with rib osomal genes. The results obtained are discussed with respect to cytot axonomic implications and to the features of NORs.
