Monodictys desquamata anam. sp. nov, is characterized by muriform conidia w
ith conspicuous external cells protruding and detaching easily from the out
er surface. The fungus was isolated from fallen bark of an unidentified tre
e collected in a rain forest in Cuba. Although the fungus was recalcitrant
for sporulating "in vitro", successful results were obtained using differen
t techniques.
