C. Grangeasse et al., CYCLIC-AMP STIMULATES THE PROTEIN-TYROSINE KINASE-ACTIVITY OF ACINETOBACTER-CALCOACETICUS, FEMS microbiology letters, 152(2), 1997, pp. 333-337
The protein tyrosine kinase activity of Acinetobacter calcoaceticus wa
s analyzed in vitro through the specific phosphorylation of an endogen
ous protein which is modified exclusively at tyrosine residues. A stro
ng stimulation of this activity by cyclic AMP was observed. This findi
ng represents the first example of a protein tyrosine kinase, in proka
ryotes as well as in eukaryotes, whose functioning is cyclic nucleotid
e-dependent.
