The statistics of the resonance widths and the behavior of the survival pro
bability is studied in a particular model of quantum chaotic scattering (a
particle in a periodic potential subject to static and time-periodic forces
) introduced earlier in Gluck et al. (Phys. Lett. A 249 (1998) 483; Phys. R
ev. Lett. 82 (1999) 1534). The coarse-grained distribution of the resonance
widths is shown to be in good agreement with the prediction of random matr
ix theory (RMT). The behavior of the survival probability shows. however, s
ome deviation from RMT. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
