Abstract
In Agaricus bisporus infected with Pseudomonas tolaasii, or treated with a partially purified tolaasin extract or with purified tolaasin. induction of a specific mRNA of the two sequences encoding tyrosinase was found. Tyrosi nase isoforms in samples treated with several concentrations of a partially purified tolaasin (PT) extract were visualized after Western analysis and staining with polyclonal tyrosinase-specific antibodies. Similar concentrat ion of a 67 kDa latent tyrosinase was shown in all the samples including th e water-treated control hut the treatment with the PT extract caused the po st-translational modification of the protein into an active tyrosinase of 4 3 kDa.
