Abstract
(+) and (-)-Goniofufurones, (+) and (-)-8-epi-goniofufurones have been synt hesized from D-(-) and L-(+)-tartaric acids by the addition of ethyl lithio propiolate to a chiral aldehyde intermediate as a key step, in which LDA is the best base compared to n-BuLi pins Lewis acid YCl3 (cat.).
