Abstract
Spontaneous condensation of a glyoxylic acid amide derivative incorporating a palmitoyl group with tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane followed by Dess-Ma rtin oxidation led to an heterocyclic amphiphilic aldehyde, which was succe ssfully engaged in hydrazone formation in partial aqueous media.
