Abstract
Stereoselective syntheses of a new family of hydrindane based bicyclitols w ith seven hydroxyl groups in a diverse stereochemical array have been accom plished from readily available building-blocks. One of the bicyclitols 12 h as been found to exhibit moderate alpha -glucosidase inhibitory activity in enzymatic assays. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
