Abstract
We describe the first LQTS-causing mutation thus far localized in the S5 se gment of the fourth SCN5A cardiac sodium channel domain. In 2 of mutation c arriers, antimalarial therapy with halofantrine induced a marked prolongati on of the QTc interval and torsades de pointes, demonstrating that specific drag treatment may induce ventricular tachycardia in LQT3.
