Among 53 patients with initially uncomplicated acute type B aortic dissecti
on, recurrent pain alone did not predict complications or adverse outcome.
These data suggest that in the absence of evidence of clinical or radiograp
hic complications, the course of patients with recurrent discomfort after t
ype B aortic dissection may be more benign than previously thought, and tha
t symptoms of recurrent pain alone map not necessarily be an indication fur
urgent aortic surgery.
