Abstract
Simultaneous measurements of mitral annulus velocity and left ventricular p ressure rise during ventricular contraction (dP/dt) at the cardiac catheter ization laboratory showed that peak systolic mitral annulus velocity correl ated well with peak dP/dt both at baseline and after dobutamine infusion. P eak systolic mitral annulus velocity greater than or equal to8.5 cm/s allow s the prediction of peak dP/dt greater than or equal to1,000 mm Hg/s, With a sensitivity of 86% and a specificity of 84% at baseline and a sensitivity of 96% and a specificity of 88% in all measurements.
