Abstract
The results of the investigation of ion emission from a Ag target irradiate d with high-intensity (up to 5x10(16) W/cm(2)) 1 ps laser pulse are present ed. It is shown that using a picosecond subjoule laser a production of inte nse streams of highly charged (charge state z > 20), high-energy (up to hun dreds of kilo-electron-volts) Ag ions is possible. Some properties of the i on streams are discussed. (C) 2001 American Institute of Physics.
