Gn. Burlak et al., DYNAMICS OF ACOUSTOELECTROMAGNETIC SOLITONS AS A MANIFESTATION OF HIGHER NONLINEARITY, Physics of the solid state, 39(6), 1997, pp. 987-990
The acoustoelectromagnetic interaction is examined in a regime where t
hree mechanisms must be taken into account simultaneously: photoelasti
city, quadratic photoelasticity, and elastic nonlinearity. It is shown
that beyond the critical conditions, acoustic solitary waves are form
ed at harmonic and subharmonic frequencies in a crystal. Including dam
ping and nonideal reflection at the boundaries does not lead to the es
tablishment of any sort of stationary state: a soliton spatial-tempora
l dynamic develops. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
