Abstract
Dicopper(II) complexes with an octadentate chelating ligand N, N, N', N', N " -pentakis(benzimidazol-2-yl-methyl)di amine [DTPB] have been synthesized and characterised. Cyclic voltammetric studies reveal the existence of two distinct quasireversible couples, a feature supporting the presence of two copper(II) ions in the binucleating ligand cavity. Low temperature X-band EPR studies provide support for a weak magnetic exchange interaction betwee n the two copper(II) ions via the ligand bridge. Room temperature magnetic moment data also support the above formulation.
