Abstract
Reinvestigation of Swertia chirata resulted in the isolation of a new chira tane triterpenoid, chirat-16-en-3 beta, 24-diol, besides known 24-ethylchol est-4-en-3-one and 1, 5, 8-trihydroxy-3-methoxy-xanthone-8-O-beta -D-glucop yranoside. The structure of the new triterpenoid has been elucidated on the -basis of 2D NMR spectral analyses.
