Abstract
Channomuraena vittata (Richardson, 1844), family Muraenidae, is recorded fo r the first time in the Bahia State (northeastern littoral of Brazil) and f or the second time in Brazil, based on one specimen (1000mm of total length ) collected about 13 degrees 53'S 38 degrees 50'W, at approximately 52 m in depth.
