Abstract
The vibrational spectra of alpha- and beta-alanine molecules in both t heir zwitterionic and neutral forms are studied by FT-IR, Raman and MI -IR spectroscopy. Together with results from theoretical SCF-MO ab ini tio calculations, the spectroscopic data obtained under the various ex perimental conditions used in this study (crystalline phase; low tempe rature matrix isolated molecules) enable to undertake a detailed assig nment of the vibrational spectra of the studied compounds.
