Abstract
The surface part of electronic energy in small metal or semiconductor parti cles contains a contribution due to the presence of crystallite edges and v ertices. In the approximation of quadratic electron spectrum, the edge cont ribution is calculated as a function of the dihedral angle of the edge and its orientation to the axes of the effective mass tensor.
