Abstract
The UV-Vis and quantum chemical studies on 8-arylazotheophyllines reve aled that those compounds can exist also in the hydrazone form. The el ectron withdrawing groups in p-position of the phenyl ring and polar s olvents shift the tautomeric equilibrium towards the hydrazone form. ( C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
