Abstract
A closed-form Green's function solution for the axisymmetric stresses in an elastic coil of superconducting magnets is presented, which provides the c omponents of stress throughout the coil and includes the shear stress in ad dition to the normal stresses. The Green's function method permits the deve lopment of a solution irrespective of the type of magnetic body forces with in the coil. Green's functions are derived by using finite Hankel transform s appropriate for a cylindrical coil.
