The leaf oils of two species of Acradenia were found to vary with the locat
ion of the collection. A. euodiiformis (F. Muell.) leaf gave 0.02-0.20%(w/w
) of an essential oil rich in either monoterpenes (alpha -pinene (16%), lim
onene (8%) and p-cymene (13%)) or sesquiterpenes [aromadendrene (11-22%), c
aryophyllene oxide (4-13%), globulol (11-13%) and spathulenol (12-18%)]. A.
frankliniae Kippist leaf gave 1.2-3.0% (w/w) oil containing either xanthox
ylin (90%) or monoterpenes alpha -pinene (19-21%), camphene (13-14%), beta
-pinene (24-25%) and (E)-beta -ocimene (8-10%) as major components.
