Abstract
The syntheses and characterization of the novel co-catalysts trityl(tetraki s[4-(trifluoromethyl)-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorophenyl]borate) (2) and the corresp onding N.N-dimethylaniliniumborate (3) is reported. Activation of dimethyl[ rac-ethylenebis(indenyl)]zirconium(IV) with 2 or 3 forms a catalyst system for the homogeneous polymerization of ethene and propene. but also catalyze s the polymerization of 1-hexene. The molecular structure of the new, (tetr akis[4-(trifluoromethyl)-2,3.5,6-tetrafluorophenyl]borate) anion was determ ined by single-crystal X-ray structure analysis. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
