Abstract
The kinetics of the oxidation-reduction reaction between N,N-diethylhydroxy lamine (DEHAN) and vanadium(V) in nitric acid media have been studied by sp ectrophotometry at 13.5 degreesC. The rate equation of reaction was found t o be -d[V(V)/dt = k[V(V)I [DEHAN] by investigating the influence of the con centration, acidity, ionic strength and the effect of initial concentration on reaction. The rate constant of reaction k = 36.38 mol/l(-2).min(-1) whe n mu = 2.0 mol/l. A possible mechanism of reaction has been suggested on th e basis of chemical analysis, H-1 NMR and ESR spectra.
