Although malacoplakia has more often been described as an inflammatory cond
ition of the urinary tract, rare occurrences of this entity involving the e
ndometrium have been reported.(1-3) Most cases of malacoplakia in the genit
ourinary tract have occurred in immunocompromised patients. The condition r
epresents a defect in phagocytic function of macrophages, resulting in cyto
plasmic inclusions: Michaelis-Gutmann bodies. Occurrence of this condition
in the endometrium is relatively rare, and, despite treatment, recurrence i
s possible.
