Abstract
A qualitative corrosion study was carried out on Al2O3-ZrO2-SiO2 and Al2O3- ZrO2 crucibles in contact with a glass prepared from a mixture of a blast-f urnace slag and cullet (soda lime glass). Chemical, microscopy, X-ray diffr action, and micro-Raman spectroscopy investigations are reported. No differ ence in corrosion resistance was found between the two materials, and the d issolution of alumina and mullite is considered to be a homogeneous reactio n at the interface.
