Abstract
In this paper we present a concept of a coaxial probe fur near-field optica l microscopy that can be realized utilizing micromachining technology proce sses. Numerical calculations were performed to prove the optical benefits o f the coaxial probe in comparison to conventional aperture tips. Furthermor e. the influence of the coaxial probe geometry with respect to its transmis sion efficiency and field confinement in the apex plane was investigated in detail.
