Q. Lu et al., Rapid modeling of two-dimensional multi-photon excitation microscopic imaging through turbid medium, OPT COMMUN, 189(4-6), 2001, pp. 227-234
A rapid model to study two-dimensional (2-D) multi-photon excitation (MPE)
fluorescence microscopic imaging through turbid medium has been presented.
This model combines traditional Monte Carlo method with 2-D point spread fu
nction (PSF). Planar fluorescent object was used to calculate the 2-D PSF,
which avoided the simulation of point scanning in the direct Monte Carlo me
thod. In the meantime, this rapid model has generalized program logic and n
eed only one-step Monte Carte calculation for the simulations of single. tw
o- and three-photon excitation fluorescence microscopic imaging. Experiment
al results showed that the rapid model using convolution operation was much
faster than the direct Monte Carlo method. Similar computation efficiency
was achieved for different order of MPE. This model provides high potential
in the simulation of MPE fluorescence imaging. (C) 2001 Published by Elsev
