The high-field installation at the MASPEC Institute is described. The incre
ase of energy up to 1 MJ has recently been implemented, thus permitting the
generation of fields up to 60 T with a pulse duration of 40 ms. The planne
d experiments are magnetocrystalline anisotropy studies of single crystals
using magnetization curves, while polycrystalline samples are studied with
the singular point detection technique (SPD). The two methods can be used t
o study critical held and critical magnetization in first-order magnetizati
on processes (FOMP) that are field-induced magnetic transitions. Transport
measurements both in semiconductors and superconductors are planned. (C) 20
