Abstract
Heteropoly acids of the general formula H3+x[PMo12-xVxO40] (where x = 1,2,3 ) catalyzed the oxidation of aromatic hydrocarbons at 65 degreesC with H2O2 to give oxygenated products. Among the catalysts, H-4[PMo11VO40] was found to be a more active catalyst and its activities have been reported in the oxidation of cyclohexane, methyl cyclohexane, naphthalene, 1-methyl naphtha lene and biphenyl.
