Abstract
The reaction of alpha,alpha -dibromobutyrophenone with dimethyl benzylidene malonate in the presence of zinc gives dimethyl 2-benzoyl-2-ethyl-3-phenylc yclopropane-1,1-dicarboxylate as a single geometrical isomer. Its structure was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis.
