All author citations versus first author citations

Based on a set of information science papers this study demonstrates that " all a.uthor" citation counts should be preferred when visualizing the struc ture of research fields. "First author" citation studies distort the pictur e in terms of most influential researchers, while the subfield structure te nds to be just about the same for both methods.
